Background

The Morris County Chamber of Commerce has presented Newmark Associates CRE with its Community Service Award, recognising close to four decades of civic involvement and philanthropic work across the region.

The Cedar Knolls-based commercial real estate brokerage has built a strong community presence in Morris County since founder and Chief Executive Susanne Newmark launched the firm in 1987.

The firm actively supports greater representation of women and minority professionals in business and operates a summer internship initiative that introduces Newark students to careers in commercial real estate.

Susanne Newmark has also served on the board of Jewish Family Services and remains an active figure in the Morristown community. Team members across the firm hold volunteer roles on planning boards, economic development committees, recreation and parks advisory committees and a range of nonprofit organisations.

Newmark said the recognition belongs to the entire team and to the community that has backed the firm for nearly 40 years. She said the company has always believed a business owes something to the place where it operates, and that strong communities and strong businesses are built together.

Newmark now leads the firm alongside Nancy Glick. The company holds Women’s Business Enterprise National Council, Woman Business Enterprise and Small Business Enterprise certifications, reflecting its long-standing commitment to diversity and inclusion in the commercial real estate sector.

The Morris County Chamber presents its Community Service Award to businesses and individuals whose contributions to civic, charitable and community life go well beyond the day-to-day course of business.

The award marks an exceptional level of dedication to the places and people that make up the wider community.
