Background

Jennifer Bosser, president and chief executive officer of the Iredell County Economic Development Corporation, has been appointed vice chair of the Professional Development Advisory Committee of the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). She will serve a one-year term in the leadership role.

IEDC is the world’s largest economic development organization, with more than 5,000 members. The group includes representatives from local, state, provincial, and federal governments, public-private partnerships, private companies, site selectors, and academic institutions. The organization is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.

Bosser has been a member of IEDC for 15 years and has played an active role in its professional development programs. She joined the Professional Development Advisory Committee in 2020. Since then, she has served as a presenter for the CEcD Exam Essentials Course, graded certification exams, and mentored more than a dozen candidates preparing for the Certified Economic Developer designation.

She completed the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute in 2013. Bosser earned her Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) credential in 2018 and completed IEDC’s Workforce Fundamentals Certification in 2025. She has also been a licensed North Carolina real estate broker since 2005.

In a statement, Bosser said she is honored to take on the new role. She noted that mentors played a key part in her 25-year career and said professional organizations must continue to update training programs to remain strong and credible.

Beyond IEDC, Bosser has supported professional growth across North Carolina. She served as president of Triangle Commercial Real Estate Women and helped launch UCREW, a program encouraging women to enter commercial real estate. She has also mentored through the N.C. Economic Development Association and participated in mentoring events hosted by regional business journals.

Bosser will serve alongside Committee Chair Justin McLaughlin, executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Tulsa Regional Chamber. The 35-member committee advises IEDC leadership on the quality and direction of its professional development and certification programs.
