Background
The SugarBelle Boutique will be hosting its popular DoorBelle Program, which seeks to mentor young girls on aspects of business and leadership. The DoorBelle Program was started in 2013 by the well-known entrepreneur, educator, and community leader Cherimie Weatherford. This summer program targets girls between the ages of 10 and 12 years old.
The program will allow the girls to experience firsthand how a small business operates. Organizers say the program helps young girls develop confidence, leadership abilities and a stronger understanding of professional success.
Selected participants will attend the 2026 DoorBelle Summer Workshop, scheduled from late July through the end of the month. Students will learn about public speaking, customer service, merchandising, marketing, teamwork, professionalism, business etiquette, and leadership development during the course of the week-long program.
The program has been devised in such a way that it provides practical experience and helps the participants to discover their potential future career and entrepreneurship options. The organizers feel that by exposing the young people to business from an early age, they will be able to develop skills like communication, confidence, and responsibility.
Since its inception, the DoorBelle Program has helped many people take leadership positions or entrepreneurial ventures. SugarBelle Boutique’s community engagement initiatives now heavily rely on the program.
The project will end with a special DoorBelles ceremony that will feature presentations of certificates and awards honoring the accomplishments and personal growth of each participant.
Weatherford said the program was created to help young girls recognize their potential, develop leadership qualities and gain confidence in their abilities from an early age.
