  • Nymeo Federal Credit Union, founded in 1933, serves members across five Maryland counties, one Pennsylvania county and three West Virginia counties.
  • NAWBO Greater DC is part of the nation’s largest organisation representing women business owners across the Washington metropolitan region.

Background

Nymeo Federal Credit Union has announced a new partnership with the National Association of Women Business Owners Greater DC (NAWBO Greater DC) to support women-owned businesses through financial education, networking and business resources. The collaboration, which includes a sponsorship, brings together two established organisations committed to helping business owners grow.

As Nymeo expands its membership into additional communities across Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, the partnership will open new opportunities for women business owners in the region. Nymeo will offer educational workshops, financial wellness resources, networking events and access to its Business Solutions Bundles, which include customised banking packages such as business checking, merchant services, treasury management and cash flow solutions.

Kristina Morgan, Nymeo’s Chief Operations Officer, said women-owned businesses continued to shape and strengthen communities, adding that the partnership reflected the credit union’s commitment to offering entrepreneurs more than just financial products.

The partnership was inspired by longtime Nymeo and NAWBO DC member Trish Davies, owner of RM Benefits Retirement Consulting, who had worked with Nymeo Branch Manager Heidi Landaverde for more than a decade. Davies said she recognised the natural alignment between the two organisations and suggested the sponsorship idea directly to Landaverde.

Landaverde said building relationships remained central to Nymeo’s approach, and that the partnership would help the credit union connect with women business owners and understand their goals.

Denise Sarpong-Johnson, President of NAWBO Greater DC, said the organisation had spent more than 50 years connecting women business owners to essential relationships and resources, and noted that members valued a financial partner who understood their goals and market.

Women currently hold several leadership roles at Nymeo, including President and CEO, Chief Operating Officer and Comptroller.
