Background
Inspirational Fitness Limited, a company that runs a women-only fitness centre in Flintshire, seems to have managed to raise £50,000 thanks to support from the Development Bank of Wales. The money raised has allowed the business to relocate to more spacious premises in Mold.
The funding was provided through the Wales Flexible Investment Fund and covered the renovation and full fit-out of the new site. The project included specialist flooring, electrical work, fixtures, fittings, and the installation of new gym equipment.
Founded in March 2020 by Kathryn Jones during the first Covid-19 lockdown, Aspire to Inspire Fitness began as a mobile personal training business before opening its first gym in Buckley. With more than 15 years of experience in the fitness and leisure sector, Jones steadily grew the business into a community-focused fitness centre designed exclusively for women.
The move to Mold has significantly increased the gym’s capacity, enabling membership to grow from around 170 members to as many as 300. Furthermore, expansion has led to the recruitment of more coaches and the creation of more income sources, such as a smoothie bar.
The ground floor position has made it easier to make the gym accessible to women who have disabilities. Expansion, according to the business, is a move that demonstrates its efforts towards creating a safe space for all users.
The Development Bank of Wales said the investment would help remove growth barriers, strengthen long-term business resilience, support job creation, and diversify revenue sources as the company enters its next stage of development.
