Background

Standard‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Chartered Bank (Nigeria) Limited reaffirmed its commitment to the empowerment of women and the promotion of gender equality by being part of the 24th Annual WIMBIZ (Women in Management, Business, and Public Service) Conference as a Gold ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌Sponsor. This marks the third year in a row that the bank has supported the event, which is one of Africa’s largest gatherings of professional and businesswomen.

The conference, themed “Own. Walk. Nurture,” brought together leaders, entrepreneurs, and changemakers to share ideas on leadership, inclusion, and nation-building. Standard Chartered said the partnership reflects its long-term goal of helping women succeed in business, finance, and public life.

“The partnership shows our dedication to driving inclusive growth and opening opportunities for women to thrive,” the bank said in a statement.

Olusiji Adeyinka, Executive Director, Compliance, Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria, represented the bank as a panelist on the topic “Rethink, Reframe, Revitalize: The Power of Inter-Generational Collaboration.” He noted that each generation brings valuable skills and that collaboration, not competition, builds stronger progress.

He added, “At Standard Chartered, we believe empowering women is both the right thing and smart economics. Our partnership with WIMBIZ supports our mission to promote diversity and inclusion in all areas.”

The bank continues to back several women-focused initiatives, such as the Futuremakers Women in Technology Incubator Programme, which supports female-led startups, and a Financial Literacy Programme that teaches young people to manage money wisely.

Standard Chartered runs programs to help create a fairer, more inclusive future where women have the same opportunities to lead and succeed.
