Key Background
Texas Woman’s University(TWU) marks 10 years for its Center for Women Entrepreneurs(CWE), a path- breaking center that has been empowering and driving women-owned businesses throughout Texas since 2015. Supported by the Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership, CWE was established to break barriers for women entrepreneurs and drive long-term successful commission.
CWE has since its founding given more than $2 million in competitive grants to women-owned early-stage and growth-stage businesses. Those grants have helped women to access capital, launch businesses, and grow operations. In addition to capital, CWE offers a comprehensive business counseling and one-on-one mentoring, and therefore is an anchor institution of entrepreneurial growth within the state.
The center has a reputation for inclusiveness. Programs are created not only for women but also for veterans, rural entrepreneurs, and LGBTQ members as well. CWE assists entrepreneurs in becoming formally certified as women-owned, minority-owned, veteran-owned, and rural businesses—and increasing their access to government contracts and business partnerships.
One of the major achievements of CWE is its ferocious pastoral outreach program. By offering training shops and business conventions in pastoral areas, the center provides equal access to coffers, mentorship, and business development openings for women anyhow of their backgrounds.
As CWE enters its second decade, TWU is set to extend its reach. New businesses encompass expanded entitlement programs, increased class immolations, and public partnerships for bridging its model. Focused on women as profitable leaders and agents of change, TWU remains to promote inclusive entrepreneurship strengthening communities across Texas.
